Bringing the Tropics to Ohio

Cincinnati, Ohio: Corporate Event Planning, Design, & Production

When you think of Cincinnati, OH you may not think of a tropical setting, right? Well, our Ohio based client wanted to add a special element of their city into the event while keeping a summer theme. This posed a hurdle our design team was excited to tackle.

Thinking outside of the box, we used the picturesque Cincinnati sunset over the Ohio River as inspiration for our Summer Nights themed event. Taking place at the Duke Energy Convention Center, the large venue assisted in mimicking the sherbet splashed horizon while video screens displayed scenes of local sunsets.

Upon entering the ballroom, the party of 1,700 guests were transported into a beach-side escape! Faux spandex trees lined the middle of the room, alluring event-goers in. The 16 foot structures popped with a lime green trunk base and an art deco crown. These palms hovering over fuchsia, tangerine and chartreuse tablescapes. Topped with alternating vibrant floral arrangements and luminescent votives, tables shined next to the stark white seats. Coordinating with the purity of the wood chairs, a 24×24 white dance floor added the perfect amount of white space so to not make the room too flashy.

Not to be out-sizzled, the cuisine stations created an interactive element. Made to order strudel and grilled cheese stations were set up for guests to enjoy. Although these noshes were not of the tropical fare the table décor made up for it. Tables were dressed with slender glass vases filled with submerged citrus fruits and topped with palm tree foliage. Complimentary cabana bars adorned with suspended mason jar lights really brought in the warmth of a tropical night.

Having a grand imagination combined with design strategy really helped pull the tropics into the city of Cincinnati. No idea is unimaginable with our designers! For additional details on this event or to request a proposal, contact the Sublime Event Designs team today!
