One of the hottest trends today is vintage glamour and celebrating “Gatsby Style” has become all the rage. Our designers at Sublime Event Design had the amazing opportunity to transform the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California into one hopping event. Allow us to transport you to the 1920’s where the engines were roaring and the champagne was flowing…

An airline hanger served as the perfect blank canvas for our 1920’s aviation themed affair. As guests arrived at the event they were greeted by authentic military jets and Osprey helicopters.  The melodic sounds of the Zzymzzy Quartet hummed through the night as party-goers posed alongside the US aviation and marine pilots. As cocktail hour came to an end the guests were guided into the hanger for a glamorous evening.

Continuing with the aeronautical aesthetic, patrons dinned at a formal dinner with special military guests of all rankings who shared their memories of service. A combination of table shapes alternated throughout the room cloaked with geometric raised velvet and damask linens. Tablescapes were topped with chiseled glass chargers sparkling against pops of scarlet florals. Accents of raven black feathers finished off the centerpieces giving a perfect nod to the vintage inspired evening.

To add to the classical ambience, 50’ vertical truss supported suspended chandeliers allowing the free light to twinkle over the crowd. A gold 24’ circular dance floor accented the focal point of the stage and complimented the 32’ champagne Austrian drape backdrop.

As a special treat, local Marine squadrons showcased military merchandise up for purchase to benefit troops. While guest mingled with some of Americas finest, they were serenaded by the smooth jazz of Mirage Big Band Orchestra- a favorite in San Diego. As the night came to a close the band played God Bless America, ending a perfectly patriotic evening.
