Trending Foods in Corporate Event Planning

Inspired by trending food halls such as Eataly and Reading Terminal this welcome reception at the Hilton Baltimore was created with cuisine and fun in mind. Our client’s culinary chefs put their skills to the test creating various tasty morsels that was perfect for our food service clientele. Adding in 8’ tall boxwood hedge walls created backdrops for various tasting stations and displays. Interactive salad, soup and cookie displays allowed guests to create their very own favorites along with sampling new products. To keep the guest engaged and having fun we had interactive games such as darts, pool and air hockey throughout the space. Furniture groupings were strategically placed to form to the unique foyer space and existing columns at the Hilton Baltimore so that it was functional while still enhancing the existing décor.

Food challenges in event management

With every event comes challenges and this event definitely presented some challenges. This event was located near registration and in the foyer space of the hotel. We had to set the welcome reception in phases until registration officially closed. We had about an hour for minor tweaks and last-minute sets before the welcome reception started. To solve this challenge, we strategically placed certain games with longer set times in areas we could get access to sooner. We also added a 40’ black pipe and drape so guests did not see the setup. The furniture and easy drop games were pre-staged behind the black drape, so we could quickly place once registration was officially closed.

Orlando Corporate Event Production

Another challenge we faced as corporate party planners in this event was working with the various chefs to be sure the design coordinated with the theme and incorporated their overall vision of the product. For example, one of chefs wanted to create a 1930’s kitchen on a very limited budget. After shopping various vendors and antique shops we were able to find a vintage stove and Hoosier cabinet display. The utensils, antique mixing bowls, bags of flour, baskets and wheat were added as an inexpensive way to jazz up this 1930’s cookie and bread station. We then defined the space by using a simple 12 x 12 black and white tile dance floor and white cork board backdrop.
